Holga Out of the Box Show

Two of my images, "The Last Stand" (top) and "Vernal Pool", were selected by juror Michael Kenna for the annual upcoming "Holga Out of the Box" show at the TCC Gallery in Longview, TX. The show opens on October 4 and runs through November 30. I've always been an admirer of Michael Kenna's landscapes, so I am extremely honored to be included in this show.

2012 Friends of the Fells Show

I will be showing two of my Holga images in this year's Celebration of the Fells show at the Beebe Estate Gallery in Melrose, MA.  The show will run for the month of September with an opening reception on Friday, Sept. 7 from 7-9pm. This show includes not only photography, but paintings, textiles and mixed media as well. My images are titled "Bear Hill Tower" and "Six Rocks", both taken within the Middlesex Fells Reservation.

Toyed With Show

I am happy (and damn lucky) that two of my images will be in this year's Toyed With Show at the Open Shutter Gallery in Durango, Colorado. The show runs from August 3 through September 3 (with an August 3 opening). My images were both shot with a Holga 120N and are titled "Balancing Act" and "Off Season". "Balancing Act" is an image of a boy in a clear vinyl bubble at a water park ride and "Off Season" is a recent shot of lobster traps in Gloucester, MA. This is the third year that there has been a Toyed With show and this is the third straight year that I have been fortunate to have images in the show.

Foggy Morning, Dry Reservoir, Middlesex Fells Reservation

I have always been intrigued by Nancy Rexroth's photo titled "White Sky", Chauncey, Ohio, 1976" (I'll let you google it). It's a perfect summation to her wispy, dreamlike images in her seminal book Iowa. It's really nothing more than a a field of white with a black, Diana camera film border. I'm not even convinced that it's actually a photograph, which makes me love it all the more.

This is my image, shot on a recent foggy morning with my Holga 120N. I was thinking about Nancy Rexroth's image when I saw this. I guess I was not quite ready to tilt that camera up another ten degrees or so. :)
